Cardiology Technician
Cardiology Technician Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for stress tests, electrocardiogram (EKG) tests and other tests of the heart
- Maintain and operate necessary test equipment to ensure patients receive best care possible
- Record patient’s medical history for accuracy
- Assist doctors during both invasive and non-invasive procedures
- Communicate the results to patients in a way that they will understand
- Record, type and dispense reports of diagnostic procedures so the physician can interpret
- Set performance standards for subordinates to ensure high quality of care
- Provide personal care and emotional support to patients, their families and coworkers as needed
- Receive, observe and obtain necessary information from any relevant sources
- Stay up to date by keeping certification up, going to conferences and talking with peers
Cardiology Technician Requirements
- Associate degree in Cardiovascular Technology
- 1-3 years of experience working in related medical field
- Technical knowledge related to cardiovascular diseases, diagnosis and treatment
- Ability to perform routine maintenance on equipment
- Solid problem solving and decision-making skills
- Strong communication and listening skills
- Proven skills in medical procedures
- Teamwork mentality
- Attention to detail
- Ability to analyze and understand information
