Pulmonary Function Test

Pulmonary Function testing is done to determine how well the lungs can perform functions like taking in
and releasing air or circulation of certain gases like oxygen into the body and to rule out certain lung disorders. In the Pulmonary function testing following things are measured: lung volume, rate of flow, gas exchange and capacity.

Preparation for consultation

  • Please wear comfortable clothing on the test day.
  • Do not eat heavy meals prior to your test.
  • Do not smoke prior to your test.
  • You will get specific instructions if you need to stop the certain medications.
  • Do not drink any caffeinated drinks 4 hours prior to the test.
